you can have fun with colours and distortion, just make more use of transparency and the overlay blending option.

A lot of brushes mainly. Just went and took a lot of screenshots, picked the one I liked best. Duped it in PS, added a blur and overlay on the dupe with a white layer in between. Used differrent brush sets on the white bg so that it came throough, then just kind of started experimenting with different brush sets on different layers with varying blends. I am working on another for my warrior now.
